NOAA Restoration Day at Jug Bay on the Patuxent
June 2007
: 62 Wood Duck Boxes Completed

Approximately 75 office staff from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Silver Spring Headquarters spent the day at Jug Bay and Patuxent State Park counting & planting wild rice plants, netting and counting fish species, conducting some maintenance activities, and building 62 wood duck boxes.

Wood duck box building activity involved 25 volunteers in two sessions supervised by two Patuxent Rangers and MWDI's Cliff Brown. 80+ volunteer hours were spent. Fifty of the 62 boxes were funded by the Jug Bay 10K Marathon held annually and the balance by Queen Anne's County Parks destined for the Conquest Farms wetland project to be installed later this year.
